Dental Crown Composition: Materials, Benefits, and Considerations for Strong, Long-Lasting Restorations

Explore the Different Materials Used in Dental Crowns and How They Affect Durability, Aesthetics, and Functionality.

Composition

  • Nano ceramic filled composite resin

  • It is a aesthetic radiopaque bio-compatible material with following physical properties
    1. Flexural Strength: ≥190 MPa
    2. Flexural Modulus: ≥4.2 GPa
    3. Compressive strength: ≥320 MPa
    4. Water sorption: 3-4.5 ug/mm³

    5. Water Solubility: 0.5-1.8 ug/mm³

  • Tooth preparation.
    1. Occlusal reduction 1.5-2 mm
    2. Proximal reduction 1mm
    3. Buccal and Lingual reduction 1mm

  • Cementation
    1. Preferred RMGIC
    2. GIC

  • If there is any high point occlusal reduction is mandatory otherwise crown fracture can occur.
